Be A Man

Hey Daddy!

Daddy, what’s the plan today?
Daddy, can we go and play?
Daddy, can we build a fire?
Hey Daddy! Can you swing me higher?

Buddy, daddy has some bills to pay.
Too much work, a busy day.
Laundry loads, trash to take,
Very important calls to make.

Ok daddy, but when you’re done,
Let’s go outside! Have some fun!
Give my toy plane a toss?
Hike the woods and not get lost?

Sure thing, buddy. Gotta go…

Daddy!!!! I’m so glad you’re home!
Can you please put down your phone?
Can we wrestle on the bed?
Can we play, like you said?

Buddy, daddy’s pretty beat,
Need a sec to take a seat.
Where’s a book that you can find?
Daddy’s going to unwind.

Ok, daddy. But then we shoot,
Basketballs on Grandpa’s hoop.
After that, lets fly a kite,
Play outside until it’s night.

Time for dinner, buddy…

Buddy, please don’t hit your sister!
Just one treat, you sneaky mister!
Clear your plate! Off to bed!
Did you hear now what I said?

But daddy, you told me that we would play,
And I’ve been waiting all today!
It’s not fair! You had said!
Ok… I guess… I’ll… go to bed.

“Maybe you should go outside and spend some time with him.”

C’mon bud. Grab your shoes.
The swing or slide, you can choose!
It’s dark outside, let’s move fast.
Your bedtime is so far passed.

Woohoo, Dad! Race you to the door!
Tag! Hoops! Then we’ll play more!
Hey Daddy! One thing I forgot to say…
Thanks for playing with me today!
