Be A Man

Your Journey to Becoming Whole

Huddled around a gravesite, a crowd has come to pay their respects. Some are crying, while others quietly reflect. Warm hugs are given. Memories are shared through whispers. A minister shares some final remarks, and then a man’s body is lowered into the ground. Dirt is shoveled overtop his coffin, securing his body in the earth. Family, friends, and co-workers have all gathered to remember the man’s legacy. They’ve come to remember you.

Consider your life for a moment. After you breathe your last breath, what kind of legacy do you want to leave? What would you want the woman you loved to say about the man you were? If you have kids or hope to have them, what kind of father would you want your kids to remember? What type of co-worker, friend, son, neighbor, and mentor do you want to ultimately be? Now, stop and think for a moment about life now. Are the thoughts you are thinking, the things you are seeing, the words you are speaking, the things you are hearing, the money you are spending, the choices you are making—are they consistent with who you want to be? If not, you can begin a journey today where the decisions you make set you on a course toward the man you hope to be. A man who loves a woman courageously, fights for his family valiantly, and succeeds at a worthwhile purpose. A man who is balanced and whole, thriving in every responsibility, living a life of integrity. You were destined to be this kind of man, and no matter where you find yourself now, you can become that man.

“You can begin a journey today where the decisions you make set you on a course toward the man you hope to be.”

At Be A Man, our presupposition is that the collapse of the modern-day man in our society is primarily a result of having lost sight of biblical manhood. If we can recover manhood as described in the Bible, both individually and as a society, we will see a historic restoration of authentic manhood.

The second source of inspiration for Be A Man, although not divinely inspired, is a famous drawing from 1490, entitled, “The Vitruvian Man.” Created by Leonardo da Vinci, the drawing depicts the proportions of an ideal man. With stunning precision and beauty, da Vinci illustrated a man of perfect proportions in two superimposed figures, inside both a square and a circle.1 Da Vinci’s drawing shows a man in perfect symmetry and balance.

If we’re honest, most of us would admit that our lives look disfigured and out of balance, far from what is portrayed in da Vinci’s drawing. Our hearts are selfish, our minds plagued by lies and evil thoughts, our eyes blinded to the majesty of God, our ears dulled by distractions all around us, our mouths unwholesome, our hands tired and bruised, our reproductive organ uncontrolled, and our feet quick to run in cowardice. The Bible describes both the reason for our disfigurement and the way forward towards wholeness and healing. It reveals the path to becoming a whole man, a life in harmony and symmetry through Jesus Christ.

Over the months and years ahead, our aim at Be A Man is to equip you to thrive in every area of your life through a journey of authentic brotherhood, biblical resources, and defining moments of manhood.

Join us on this journey to become the man you were designed by God to be.

It’s time to Be A Man!
